Frames to Seconds Calculator

Convert a frame count to seconds, or seconds to frames, at any common frame rate. Seconds always use the true rate, so 29.97 and 23.976 come out exact.

seconds = frames ÷ fps

240 frames at 24 fps = 10.000 seconds

Timecode (NDF): 00:00:10:00

What is a Frames to Seconds Calculator?

A frames to seconds calculator divides a frame count by the frame rate (seconds = frames ÷ fps) and multiplies the other way (frames = seconds × fps). Editors use it to turn a shot length in frames into running time, or to work out how many frames a 10-second spot needs.

How to convert frames to seconds

Divide the number of frames by the frame rate. 240 frames at 24 fps is 10 seconds; 240 frames at 29.97 fps is 8.008 seconds, because 29.97 is slightly slower than 30.

  • 24 fps: 1 second = 24 frames, 1 minute = 1,440 frames
  • 25 fps: 1 second = 25 frames, 1 minute = 1,500 frames
  • 30 fps: 1 second = 30 frames, 1 minute = 1,800 frames
  • 60 fps: 1 second = 60 frames, 1 minute = 3,600 frames

Need HH:MM:SS:FF instead of seconds? Use the timecode calculator or, for 29.97 and 59.94 broadcast timecode, the drop-frame timecode calculator.
